The workshop
Built the way gates used to be built
Most gates sold online are stapled together from thin section timber and fail within a few winters. Ours are jointed the traditional way, from heavy stock, by people who have been doing it for decades.

How long does a made-to-measure gate take?

What does delivery cost?
Free within 40 miles of our Essex workshop, and free for collection. Beyond that, £30 for a single gate, £95 for a double set, and £7.95 for ironmongery only. Calculated automatically at checkout from your postcode.
Which timber should I choose?
Scandinavian redwood is the best value and performs well when treated. Sapele and iroko are durable hardwoods with better weather resistance. European oak is the most durable and suits period properties.
How do I measure my opening?
Measure between the posts at the top, middle and bottom, and use the smallest figure. Our measuring guide walks through it with diagrams.
Can you make a size that isn't listed?
Yes. Every gate is made to order, so if your opening falls outside the listed options, call us on 01206 688850 and we'll quote it.
